UX for Beginners

Are you a beginner to UX? Then here is an introduction to “User Experience Design“.

Introduction to UX

User Experience (UX) is all about how a person feels about the use and efficiency of a certain product, system or service on achieving a required purpose.

“User experience encompasses all aspects of the end-user’s interaction with the company, its services, and its products.”

Don Norman, Cognitive Scientist & User Experience Architect

User Research

User research is the methodic study of target users—including their needs and pain points—so designers have the sharpest possible insights to work with to make the best designs. User researchers use various methods to expose problems and design opportunities, and find crucial information to use in their design process.

Analyze and Identify User Problems

It is not only sufficient to carry out the User Research, rather designers are required to use the result to analyze and identify the user problem which is required to be solved. Designers use various methods to ensure the identification of accurate problems.

Ideate for Solution

The main aim of the Ideation stage is to use creativity and innovation in order to develop solutions.

“Ideation is the mode of the design process in which you concentrate on idea generation. Mentally it represents a process of “going wide” in terms of concepts and outcomes. Ideation provides both the fuel and also the source material for building prototypes and getting innovative solutions into the hands of your users.”

Prototyping and Visual Design

One of the best ways to gain insights in a Design Thinking process is to carry out some form of prototyping. This method involves producing an early, inexpensive, and scaled down version of the product in order to reveal any problems with the current design.

Usability Testing

Usability testing is the practice of testing how easy a design is to use with a group of representative users. It usually involves observing users as they attempt to complete tasks and can be done for different types of designs.
